Civil Litigation

Civil litigation is how a dispute is decided in court when the parties cannot resolve it themselves. NNI Law represents people who need to file a lawsuit and people who have been sued. The file is prepared as if it will be tried. Not every matter is accepted.

Matters commonly reviewed

  • Business disputes
  • Contract disputes
  • Real estate disputes
  • Landlord and tenant litigation
  • Labor and employment disputes
  • Insurance claims that have become a lawsuit
  • Estates and trusts disputes

How a civil case moves

  • A look at whether the dispute can be resolved before a complaint is filed
  • Filing the complaint, or answering one that has already been served
  • A person who has been served often has about 30 days to respond
  • Discovery: documents, subpoenas, and depositions
  • Settlement talks while the case is still being prepared for trial
  • Trial before a judge or a jury, and what follows a judgment

Deadlines are short. A person who wants to sue has a limited time to file. A message does not make the office your lawyer.
